eMed CEO, Dr. Patrice Harris, Receives Two Prestigious Awards
Distinguished Medical Achievement Award from the Emory School of Medicine and Distinguished Alumnus from the West Virginia University School of Medicine
Miami - November 8, 2022 - This past month has been a great month of recognition for our Co-founder and CEO, Dr. Patrice Harris. Dr. Harris was recognized by the Emory School of Medicine Alumni Association with the 2022 Distinguished Medical Achievement Award and by the West Virginia University School of Medicine Alumni Association with the 2022 Distinguished Alumnus Award.
“It is with great honor and appreciation that I accept the Distinguished Medical Achievement Award from the Emory School of Medicine and the Distinguished Alumnus award from West Virginia University. It means a lot to be honored by the institutions that have given me such a solid foundation and have enabled me to accomplish so many things in my life. For that, I will be eternally grateful. Receiving such recognition from colleagues at my alma maters is truly a full circle moment for me,” says Dr. Harris.
The Distinguished Medical Achievement Award is “conferred upon an individual who has achieved distinction in research, medical practice, or administration in an academic or public institution,” says Natalie Fields, the director of the Emory School of Medicine’s Office of Equity and Inclusion.
Lynda Nine, Director, Alumni Affairs, WVU School of Medicine noted, “we are thrilled that [Dr. Harris] has been selected as the recipient of the WVU School of Medicine Distinguished Alumnus award. She has done so much for the practice of medicine and brought recognition to WVU throughout the nation.”
In addition to her role as the Co-founder and CEO of the revolutionary telehealth company, eMed, Dr. Harris works as a visiting professor at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and their Department of Psychiatry. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine and as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine. Furthermore, Dr. Harris is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and serves as Chief Health and Medical Editor for Everydayhealth.com.
