Sonal Shah
Chief Policy Advisor
Sonal Shah is an advisor to eMed. She joins from Georgetown University, where she was the Founder and Executive Director of the Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation.
An economist by training, Sonal has held senior leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. She has worked in the public sector in both the Clinton and Obama Administrations, where she was Deputy Assistant to President Obama and founded the White House Office of Social Innovation. She has also worked in the private sector as Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where she started and ran Goldman’s Center for Environmental Markets, and Google, where she headed Google.org's Global Development Initiatives.
Sonal has extensive public policy experience. She worked as Senior Advisor at the United States Department of the Treasury, helping to form the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, advising on post-war rehabilitation in Kosovo, designing poverty mitigating strategies across Africa, and managing financial crises in Latin America and Asia. She also has extensive domestic experience building innovative policies and programs to address social challenges. Most recently, she was the National Policy Director on the Pete for America Presidential Campaign, where she led a team of policy experts to build a cutting-edge and innovative public policy platform.
Sonal currently serves on the boards of The Century Foundation, Oxfam America and the UBS Optimus Foundation.
